Targeted decoupling is the smart play: cut China out of chips, defense, and critical supply chains, but keep ordinary trade that gives the US leverage and keeps costs down.
Agreed, but execution is the hard part — allies need to move in sync, otherwise China just routes chips and rare earths through Malaysia or Mexico and we've accomplished nothing.
