Public institutions should be neutral, but people don’t stop having identities at the door. Let individuals wear or display symbols; don’t let the state endorse one.
Individual expression in state spaces still pressures coworkers and citizens — a teacher's hijab or crucifix isn't neutral to the kid in front of them. Secularism means the role, not just the logo.
