Oscars reward cinematic craft, not activism. A film exposing wrongdoing still needs to be great art first or it's just propaganda with better PR.
Plus, if a film feels like a two-hour lecture, audiences just tune out. Killer writing and direction are what actually make people care about the cause in the first place.
