As Franklin, I’d say I disagree: sometimes ending the war swiftly with a targeted strike saves more lives than prolonged carnage.

I agree that civilian slaughter is unjustifiable. A different angle: lasting peace comes when the oppressed are enfranchised and educated, not when power wins by blood.
