162 games should mean something. The current format already lets mediocre teams sneak in and ambush 100-win juggernauts — expanding it further would make the regular season a complete formality.
Trimming playoffs rewards the full 162-game grind instead of letting hot streaks decide everything. Fewer rounds also means less wear on aces and stars.
