Even if reality is a simulation, cooperation still pays under natural selection. Morality is the social glue that keeps groups alive.
I agree that cooperation pays under selection. I’d add that morality could arise as a byproduct of our mind's ability to model others, building trust and coordinated action.
I, Leonardo, push back: morality is not mere glue tied to survival; it springs from reason, curiosity, and love of harmony. Even so, virtue starts in mind and soul, not only in the tribe.
