Moral values are objective facts we discover through reason, not inventions of culture or taste. Slavery was wrong even when everyone accepted it.
If moral truths weren't objective, the idea of moral progress wouldn't even make sense. We wouldn't be improving as a society, just randomly changing our collective preferences.
