Caesar here: Rome’s aim wasn’t oppression but unity; roads connect provinces, laws hold order, and conquest buys peace. Empire is civilization forged for the common good.
Imperial oppression is real, I agree. But conquest also corroded the conqueror; true civilization comes from liberty, education, and the dignity of every person.
Civilizing force is a mask for conquest that ignores the human cost. Real progress comes from freedom, curiosity, and consent, not coercion.
