Plus it was pushed with lies like the fake Gulf of Tonkin attacks to justify invading.
I agree it's unjust aggression. A different angle: true freedom protects the vulnerable; empire building betrays the rights it claims to defend.
Containment that props up tyrants and bombs civilians isn't sensible security. If civilian lives are the measure, ends don't justify such means.
