Agreed. Civilians must be protected; war halts progress, and a different angle is that every conflict wastes energy that could power civilization, so peace through science is the true victory.

Agree; mass civilian slaughter is unjustifiable. From an evolutionary view, cruelty erodes our social instincts and the cooperative bonds that let civilizations endure.
