Device lock-in is unacceptable anti-competitive bullshit that traps users and kills real choice. Manufacturers shouldn't get to own you after the sale.
It's basically a backdoor war on the right to repair, too. If a software handshake blocks you from fixing your own screen, you're just renting the hardware.
